I really wanted to like this...it SHOULD be great...but ....alas....it lost all the charm of the book...it is just TOO NASTY...Not speefically Emma T as Trunchbull ( she was excellent), but every other character who was supposed to be a characature was really nasty!!! The ear pulling in Phys ed scene horrific. Really a scary film. It is as if the producers felt that it being a musical somehow made this forgivable. It was like a graphic kids version of a poor man's Les Miserables. The nastiest musical and least suitable thing for kids I have watched in a long time. BIG FAIL!!!
