Saw clips of this years ago on Facebook and curiosity eventually led me to tracking the show down.
Admittedly it didnโt grab me from the first season. In fact I found the humor a little too dumb for my tastes. It does get better, but it does also get progressively more dumb, yet itโs like a trainwreck so I canโt help but watch. It grew on me on season 2.
There was one episode where Mr. D became the guardian of one of his students and is easily the darkest episode in a typically lighthearted show. Itโs too pitiful to really enjoy. Nothing bothered me too bad about this show, I saw it as nothing more than satire and itโs always cool when kids get to do and say stuff you donโt see and hear on most shows, but that one episode was hard to watch. Makes it really hard to like Mr. D as a character.
By season 8, the show becomes a farce of itself. The weird thing is that I couldโve watched more of this series even though Iโm being generous and calling it middle of the road. Bottom of the barrel is more like it. It has its funny moments though. I want to compare it to Itโs Always Sunny but the writing isnโt anywhere near that level of quality.
