The first hour of this movie is award worthy, then it falls completely apart. Maybe it was in the editing room and maybe it’s bc MBJ is a rookie director, but there are only fleeting moments in the last 45 minutes that make the film cohesive. So much is set up and then left to disappointment. So many great elements and lead-ins only to be left behind and never concluded. Let’s just face it, right after JM wins the belt, he is all the sudden partying on a beach with a gun and 1000 friends. Say what now? Convicted felon on parole. That’s just one thing that turns this movie into a let down. Good film. Great acting. Some poor writing and ultimately left me unsatisfied. Absolutely a scene that could have at least had Rocky as a phone call, it would have been fitting.
