2.5 stars. Writing style was not my favorite but as I went on it did seem to get better. The sentences felt very choppy. Felt like putting the book down several times but I forced myself to get thru it. Some areas got a little boring too. Took longer to read than normal. With that said...the ending may have made me want to consider picking up the next book to see what happens in this love triangle.

About a 3.5. The book had my attention from the very start. The twists, turns, and big reveals all had my jaw on the floor. It was amazing how McFadden made the reader think 1 thing and flipped the story at the very end. It's technically not a murder mystery because it seems the author never really wants the reader to "solve" the case. McFadden really just wrote the book for you to read and enjoy the ride. If you can get yourself to let go and just accept what is...then you'll enjoy every second. My brain, unfortunately wants to connect pieces and try to make sense of it all..hence the rating. Overall a fun read and would recommend.

This book was not exactly 5 starts but it came pretty close! I read it based on tiktok reviews. Had me hooked from the very first page. It had women empowerment, thrill, suspense, love. Everything you would want from a book. Would absolutely recommend! I would say Lord of the Flies meets Handmaid's Tale.

It's awful. I am more than half way thru and I've wanted to dnf the book about 30x. Should have read it in about 1 day...I'm on 1 week of reading the book because I need to force myself to pick it up. The only good thing I have to say is that the quickness of her headmates (her alternative personalities) was fun to read about and once in a while it made me smile. Reporting back...I finished it. By chapter 35 (that's more than half the book!!!) it gets interesting enough that you get to the end. Unfortunately, I'm sitting and trying to figure out what I just read?? DID, murder, and a strange men hate women situation with goblins (just too much going on). The book had a lot of potential but the author did a poor job of executing it. Will not be recommending.

The book was "fine" at best. Nothing amazing. The first twist was exciting but then by the time they got to the 2nd and 3rd..I was rolling my eyes and thinking "really...again?" Felt like there were too many charecters and background stories to keep track of. Although, hats off to the writer for being able to do so and still allowing the story to manke sense. Make a list...so you know who's who. The big reveal again...had me rolling my eyes. It was written in a way I haven't seen before and that was cool. Quick read for when you have nothing else and need a palate cleanser.
