The movie deals with an abundence of characters and side arcs that ultimately fail to ever fully develop. It's the same issue that plagued the last movie with the underlying hope that maybe the next movie in the series will see it to fruition. But as is evident from the transition from CoG to SoD, entire characters are sidelined, motivations are unclear/constantly changing, and clunky exposition is written in to justify discongruent scenes. Clearly there is no unanimous end goal in this series other than hoping it alines with everything that is already established in DH. Futhermore, the world building is disappointedly centered on a political sphere rather than a magical/fantasy one which charmed the original series. That being said, there are some fantastic beasts in this one and the animation seems to be the last thing carrying the series outside of the acting.
