In one word, I would describe Wish as boring. The lore is not deep at all, the villain is more relatable than the protagonists themselves through most of the movie. It doesn't make any sense how no one ever faced one disappointment and start sobbing and grieving for nothing? Dreams get crushed in everybody’s life, and Disney could have "thought a lesson about it" and all, but instead just resolved to, out of nowhere, make this whole dramatic and ""sad"" scene? Furthermore, the villain wasn't even totally wrong. He created a nice kingdom, everything was doing fine and no one wanted it to change. It's not like people were forced to give their wish to him, they did it freely anyways, and no one ever got sad (NOT EVEN A LITTLE) when giving up on their wish. Also, disney just stuffed this movie with too much characters that have no development at all, and most of them didn’t even play an important role on the narrative. Asha (the protagonist) had around 6 or 7 friends but only 2 were truly important through the story. If the others were simply removed, the lore would pretty much be the same, since their whole participation was in useless dialogues and musics (I mean, it could have been done with 2 chatacters instead of like…SEVEN.) And that goat kid… God, he tried to be funny everytime, joking around pointlessly, but instead of amusing it was ANNOYING AS HELL… this trial of putting a comic character in the movie failed miserably, as not only most characters are irrelevant, but the relevant ones were either annoying or hypocritical. The queen who loved the king more than anything did not hesitate to throw him in the dungeon for good? So that's it, we can just discard people who make one mistake, even with good intentions? Did not make any sense to me. And last but not least, I HATE musicals and this movie proves perfectly why: The narrative is constantly stopped for a 4-minute song that is not even necessary to the story. My hopes weren't the highest about this film, but still it was really below my expectations.
