Its an okay book.
It's a slow burn until more than half way through and then it suddenly takes a turn into more action packed, yet as we reach the final chapters it begins to drag again.
However, I went into this book on the blurb alone thinking it would be a creepy story at least, set around halloween which I thought would be perfect as halloween approaches. I thought that there would be more depth to the cunning man, but there just wasn't.
Some characters were good I enjoyed Rick, Barbara, Tony and Julia but the rest of the characters for me were just meh.
There were a few times throughout the book where you forget who is who or who is related to who / what connection they have with each other. Which is a pity and ultimately comes with a lot of chapter changes and characters in a short space of time.
There was one death in particular that was a bit of a let down in the sense of its a shame that character died, the way that they did, as it was out if nowhere.
I like the concept, but I think the ideas of the cunning man and the kids was a bit rushed the cunning man didn't really do much to be honest.
I feel there was a spark missing from this book, though I can't quite place my finger on it.
Overall its okay, it's not great.
And did anyone else see a little typo of one of the characters in the last two pages? It made me laugh considering who the character was.
