Eye candy, for sure - and it checks all of the diversity boxes required for today's modern audience. But in substance, it has gutted a Sci-fi masterwork, filled it with formulaic treacle, and slapped the "Foundation" title on the cover for marketing purposes. I would give it a higher rating if it glommed on to the StarWars canon as some sort of space opera Silmarillion origins story. Asimov would be baffled.
