The graphics were beautiful. The plot was horrible. If you want to watch a movie about 13 year old middle schoolers eloping…. Then this is the movie for you. I don’t know what I was expecting from this anime, but it didn’t deliver anything. The plot was honestly awful. I would not recommend watching this at all! I gave two stars because the art was beautiful and it was a movie so at least I didn’t invest a series worth of time to be disappointed. There was not much explanation as to what was going on with this time traveling orb. Was it time travel? A genie? Was he hallucinating? I’m sure I could read up on it or watch it again to understand better, but there are so many plot holes initially that it’s not worth the time. And again. You’re legit watching two 13 year old children “fall in love” in one day over who won a swimming match. I don’t even think the main girl actually liked the guy except that he was willing to elope with her after talking to her for an hour. They legit had their first conversation EVER, had a swim competition, met up to see the fireworks, planned on eloping, ran away for hours, then went missing. Add in a time controlling orb that grants wishes and you basically have the shmoop notes of the movie. Don’t waste your time. Watch “A silent voice” if you want a good romance/drama anime on Netflix.
