Maybe if I had read the books I would have enjoyed this more. Visually, it’s very remarkable and the technology was fascinating. But the pace was ponderous. There is no reason why this movie should have been so long. About halfway through, I thought, “This movie takes itself way too seriously!” Especially for the multiple inconsistencies. I don’t think I’ll be too eager to watch part II when it comes out.
