A MAGNUM OPUS !
“Oppenheimer” lived with the consequences of his own scientific triumph.
I don't think any mortal being is capable to write comprehensive review of this movie. Till date its Nolan’s most straightforward work but yet its thought provoking, and intense ride through complex human psyche. As the story it becomes evident that it’s not a typical World War II movie rather a drama of a race against time to harness the divine power of Atoms that became Science’s most definitive moment in human history. The film neither took any political stand, nor does it bore you out with nuclear physics intricacies. It is simply a perfect blend of historical accuracy and cinematic brilliance ( with multi-layered psychological dilemma ) that will keep you at the edge of your seat for 3 hours. And yet gain Nolan played his signature use of “time” in the film editing to deliver two different contrasting timelines of monochrome and colour parts between two driving forces.
While it seems inevitable for Cillian Murphy to win his first Academy Award, the world must applaud Robert Downey Jr., for his monumental acting prowess that ruled almost entire second half of the movie and up to the end. I think his character went head on with Murphy's portrayal.
Just go to your nearest theatre ( IMAX experience highly recommended ) and immerse yourself in it, until you discover that you drowning in it, such is the power of an impeccable storytelling and “Ludwig Göransson’s” background score. This is without a doubt the most important film in the history of filmmaking. But mind you, this is a slow burner, a completely dialogues driven movie and if you are not a fan of this genre please don’t bother yourself.
