I'm writing this review to try and save whoever I can... DONT GET FOOLED BY THE FIRST FEW EPISODES! The last 2 episodes of season 1 were the worst bit of media I think I've ever seen. Let's go over some of the problems... in list form! 1: the camera work. The cinematography is by far the worst aspect of this show. Characters will be completely out of focus for parts of shots, they try and do "the office" style quick zooms but didn't do it in camera.. so they do it in post and just zoom in and it gets super low resolution and looks awful. 2: writing. The first couple episodes had defined characters that were different and likeable and the plot seemed original. By the last episode every single last character was just a puppet for the writers. "This character would never do that" Well the plot has to move somehow! Everyone stops even being believable humans and just do the thing that moves the plot, regardless of any pre-established character traits. 3: More camera issues: light flare on every single shot, every daylight shot was so overexposed you couldn't even see what was happening... literally the worst overexposure I've ever seen in a professional piece of work. 2010 Era YouTube videos look better than this. 4: mistakes. There are so many shooting errors I don't even know where to start. Any time anything interesting happens the engage shaky camera mode and will even cut back to character reaction shots that are just static tripod shots, then back to the creature ***shhhaaakkeeee*** Any bit of cgi outside the first episode is so bad it should've been cut entirely. They try to do the dolly effect 3 times and they don't get it once! They couldn't match the dolly movement speed with the zoom speed and it was hilarious to watch. I only felt the need to review this in the first place because of how much I loved the first episode. They genuinely baited me into watching the whole season and it was nowhere near worth it. Sad that these very talented actors have to go down with this ship. Please... save yourself... don't watch this dumpster fire.
