I have spent my life reading non fiction. Believing that reading was a path to greater knowledge to further one's career. On my 32nd Birthday my wife bought me "The Magician". I said to her "a fantasy novel!". A joke I presumed. It was almost a year ago I finished the last book, in total 34 including the Fireman's Saga. I have laughed aloud, cried, cheered, and even refused to read for a few weeks after "Kingdom Beseiged". Raymond Fiest is simply a genius to my mind. He creates a world of opportunity, love, heroism and much more. You feel and understand the characters. You become friends and with that, feel what they feel. Love, loss, triumph and defeat. I envy you the review reader for you have an opportunity to read and be a part of this world without knowing its end. I write this review because Raymond deserves to know the profound respect I have for his writing and that to this day I will wish I could start again with the Magician as it was the first time I read it.
