I like your show and Watch it everyday. However, your piece about literacy missed the mark. I am a retired teacher who has a masters as a reading specialist. The reason that schools teach whole language is because most students learn this way. While there is another method, Ortonville-Gillingham method of teaching reading that is the phonics method you spoke as another method. Most students that struggle to learn to read are behind when enter school. The lack book orientation and vocabulary that others have learned before starting school. I feel parents need to take some responsibility for these deficits. Tutor help but parents could foot some of the load. Thank you Virginia Moore
