I'm quite surprised that there hasn't been much discussion about how unrealistic the ending of this book is. It's hard to believe that Verity's death would be attributed to natural causes without any investigation. In the book, the author vividly describes the scene where Verity is being choked to death by Jeremy, with him using his knees to pin her arms down. Surely, this would have left bruises on her arms, leading to a murder investigation. It's implausible that he would get away with it in America.
Additionally, if the first murder attempt by Jeremy is indeed true, it should be possible to determine which side of the car she was on during the accident. Moving her to the other side wouldn't erase all evidence.
I'm surprised that I haven't come across any reviews critiquing the logical inconsistencies in the ending.
Nonetheless, it's still a pretty good book.
