For three years the Netflix algorithm had this as a recommendation for me. I had not even watched the trailer but last night I hit the play button and so glad that I did. While it was basically a home movie with early super 8 vibes, it did show a family that loved and supported each other as well as their non-blood kin. Don’t let the Circus of Books’ hard core gay porn put you off.

I work as a volunteer Docent aboard the USS Midway Museum and am steeped in the history of the Battle of Midway. I've recently read the first two installments of Ian W. Toll's "Pacific War Trilogy". I went to see the movie expecting to be disappointed but was more than pleased to blown away by the depiction of this historic event. Certainly some of the CGI segments are over the top and the dialogue sometimes a little corny. Don't let the negative reviews keep you away.
