I enjoyed this because over the years I have learned to turn off my over-critical head and let the director and the actors take me where they may and judge something when it's done. It's easy to be picky about a new cast learning to dance together the dialog and interaction is better in the 2nd episode and show's promise for the road ahead.
As for all the Tolkein Geeks and custodians of all things Middle Earth nothing was ever fully described or finished with Tolkein. He never fully documented the full history of middle earth so much was just sketched if you don't like the way new writers are bringing it to life then you can, of course, turn off.
