The whole movie is further explaining the first scene. The character explains a situation that deals with "righter" or "wronger" and the 3 stories illuminate the struggle in finding where the gray meets white or black.
It's impressive and necessary to be subtle with this delivery because Fuqua shows us that every person can determine their own right and wrong based on their experiences and the way they interpret their situation.
