Such a REAL movie -- Some characters fell then rose to the challenges, like Jessica and her young daughter, and other characters fell hard and stayed down. And very impressive how this movie navigates the nuance of explaining to a young child the difference between a sick and a bad person. Growing up in Ohio in proximity to various apple orchards, I appreciate the imagery/symbolism of rotten and merely bruised apples, of how one can cook a diversity of apples into a smooth, delicious apple butter, though you may find apples that are just too deeply rotten to use. And how ironic that being forcibly shut-in provided the freedom for Jessica to make a choice to wake up and connect to a deeper source of strength - to her faith and her own mother.
