Having been born and raised in the Barnsley coalfield I read the first half of the book in total agreement. Sadly, the last half is a selfish, populist rant. Riddled with hypocrisy and misinformation. Who would wish for a disabled wife in order to claim disability benefit? How can the book be described as ‘beautifully written when it is riddled with angry foul language? He dismisses the Labour Party when he writes their obituary in 2023 but we all know how wrong he was on that point!!! I suppose he voted ‘reform’.
