This was an incredible movie that was almost entirely unfaithful to the book. They changed Roz and Brightbill’s personalities and their dynamic, downplayed the importance of longneck in favor of a fox named fink, and completely dismissed how Roz originally spent her time on the island. They made her into some subservient robot, when in fact she was just curious. The designs and animation in this movie were beautiful, and i think i would have liked it much more if i had never read the book. It’s an incredibly special story to me and i was so disappointed to watch an unfaithful adaptation. Good story, but completely different from what i was expecting and hoping for.
