Beware.. the climax is not for the weak hearted! It is NOT a movie, it is an emotion and the tradition of the people of coastal Karnataka who have been observing the ritual since time immemorial.
It is based on the storyline as shown in the trailer, depicting the eternal conflict between forest officials and the natives. In the process of claiming their right over the land, there are nasty ego clashes. How do they sort out the dispute? How do the elders strive to safeguard their land & culture is the core concept of the movie.
Kishore fits exactly into the role of a dedicated forest official as the director might have envisaged the character who is ferocious yet intelligent.
Achyuth Kumar's performance in the movie is the testimony to the fact that this man can pull off any character with ease.
Prakash Thuminad comes as a surprise package with his coquettish behaviour backed up by the character who plays Bulla who, with their humor, strike the right chord at the right time leaving you in splits.
There is a visible dedication from the newcomer Sapthami Gowda especially where she had to master the dialect and reproduce it on screen.
Manasi Sudheer and Pramod Shetty who have prominent roles to play have undoubtedly done full justice to their roles.
But without any competition we have a clear winner..!! It's impossible to express how could somebody magnificently recreate the concept of Bhootha kola without really invoking the deity onto himself..!! The term Visual-treat would be insignificant to describe the kind of performance Rishab Shetty has delivered. His transformation from being boisterous to divine is simply unbelievable!
I remember seeing the entire theatre sitting dumbstruck, speechless and with folded hands during the climax.
God & Nature have their own way of maintaining equilibrium with or without human intervention is the takeaway message.
The nativity of tulunadu is aptly manifested on screen in the form of Kambala, kola, padhdana, kori-katta etc. If you miss this movie , you have a whole lifetime ahead of you to reconsider and watch or to regret.
