An actual rancid pile of unforgivable garbage. And I like the Brits and progressivism, so this is truly saying something.
If you believed in the reactionary rhetoric the author was peddling the original book series, you're obviously going to whine about this.
If you were critical of the books but still held on to some of the most grandeur aspects of the original trilogy, you are still going to bloody hate this.
If your favourite character in the trilogy was Ye Wenjie, you are going to utterly disown this. I cannot begin to stress how that was the greatest crime D&D committed producing this gentrified trash. Butchering and heavily altering the motivations and actions of the character from which the entire series is founded on. Perhaps they thought it would look politically insensitive if they made the Sino female as she truly was: resentful, cold, insensitive, while all the westerners and diasporic stumbled their way into the heroic narrative praised for their motivations to do all they could to keep the peace of the single most wicked and selfish species on earth. Give me a f#$%*&* break.
It's such a travesty. You are left with no other choice but to stick to the "mid-budget, slow-as-molasses" Tencent adaption if you want to suffer a liveaction, or, better yet, don't wander beyond the source material at all.
Continue to obfuscate the truth for an unintelligible, undeserved audience. You build bridges with them. But you will not make an ally of me.
