The CGI work is, as always, great but the lack of expression, though true to real life animals, ought to have been compensated through voice expression, something that professional voice acting might have achieved but was sadly dismissed in favour of a celebrity cast with below average voiceover skill that made even the most emotional scenes fall flat. Many of our favourite songs are cut short, minor characters with no relevance are added, some dialogues are extended and yet it still manages to feel rushed.
The overall experience is like spending two hours cheering on a race horse to pick up the pace, a team to score, an old friend to come to you birthday party, that extra bang!... that never comes in the end.
