Don Lambirth

Not as bad as I thought it would be based on the first 4 songs released on Spotify. There are some real moments of greatness, especially on older songs like “11 O’ Clock”, “I Will Follow” and “Two Hearts”. It feels like those songs got a brand new coat of paint in their new form.There’s also fun, reimagined versions of “The Fly”, “Desire” & “Vertigo”. Most of it just sounds like U2 unplugged and yeah it’s ok but not particularly memorable. At times Bono’s voice sounds aged and haggard. It’s a nice companion piece to their canon but does not offer much more than that. It’s U2 enjoying theirselves because they can. It will be interesting to see if some of these versions make it into their live show. I hope a couple of them will.
