Absolutely brilliant show that really shows the struggles of a young trans woman aspiring to be herself and the hate and intolerance she has to put up with in our savage society.
I really do admire Jazz's strength and resilience considering all that she has to deal with because most trans women wouldn't survive the type of abuse that Jazz has had to cope with. Jazz and her family have been the best role models for other trans kids.
However this show also highlights the problems with Jazz's 'helicopter' mother who has gone too far in overprotecting her trans daughter. Jazz is now an adult and she should have already developed the life skills to be making a lot more decisions herself instead her mother shouldering all the responsibility which has kind of 'spoiled' Jazz a little bit.
But you cannot blame Jazz's mother for this, because the difficulties in raising a child who is trans has it's roots in the transphobic discrimination, rejection, vilification and abuse this family endures.
So it is very difficult not to spoil a child like Jazz when you love them unconditionally. So parenting a trans child can be very tough and as difficult as being transgender person yourself. So I have the greatest respect for Jazz's very loving and supportive family.
I cannot get over the amount of transphobic hate-filled reviews published here about this television show. Some of these critics obviously hate trans people.
These critics are attacking Jazz with claiming she is not a woman and that she is 'mentally ill'. These haters are not being critical about the show itself and clearly lack any understanding about why this show was produced to highlight the struggles of what trans people and their family's go through.
Some are claiming that the surgery made Jazz's mental health issues worse, but that is utter nonsense. What surgery cannot change is society's attitudes, especially the transphobic attitudes of people who refuse to accept that Jazz is a woman.
Irrespective of what these few hate filled critics say about Jazz and this television show, most people will simply see and accept trans women as women and nothing else.
Trans women not only suffer the same type of misogyny, sexual harassment and abuse including rape like every other women, we also suffer from rejection, harassment, discrimination and violence from homophobic and transphobic people who support patriarchy and toxic masculinity in our society.
This type of toxic attitude typically comes from men who see fault in anyone who was born male who is gay or feminine because they feel this threatens their very fragile masculine ego and what it means to be a 'real man'.
A lot of men see women as weak and they want to be able to dominate and control women. We also know all women can be just as strong and even stronger and more competitive as men when they are empowered and allowed to embrace their inner strength.
This is why men also find that trans women are not so easy for them to dominate and control which is what really worries men and makes them scared of women like Jazz.
Trans women are not sexual perverts and deviants trying to invade women's spaces to rape women or dominate women's rights like they are painted up to be. Such claims are purely based in falsehoods and myths.
Every female on this planet should be asking themselves.. "What is so wrong with being a woman?"
Trans women are women, and trans rights are human rights!
We are all human beings and are deserving of equality, love and respect and so to does Jazz and her family.
