Pros: great CGI, great costumes, great music, and overall visually beautiful. The acting wasn't terrible (they did the best they could with the terrible script they were given)
Cons: Overly stylized script writing that panders more to Shakespeare fans than Tolkien fans. The pacing was so fast in the beginning that it's challenging to follow what's going on (I had to constantly rewind it to avoid missing important details- I shouldn't have to do that). Galadrrrrrriel didn't win me over yet the show insists that I root for her. No epic or impactful moments to walk away with nor was there anything reminiscent
of the magic and lore from Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy in this show. This version feels very different. At times (especially the first 20 minutes or so) the pacing was too fast, rushing from scene to scene to scene and at other times too boring (too soap opera-ish).
Takeaway: I recommend this show to people who have never read Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings novel and have never seen Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy movies (that way you have nothing to compare this show to).
