An extremely underrated show, this series! I chanced upon it through the recommendation engine on Prime Video (I’m in India). As someone who’s watched every existing detective/cop/murder procedural, I can tell you this is my most favorite after Criminal Minds!
The way each story is narrated, the attention to detail, the investigative work, the no nonsense yet compassionate approach by all cops involved, the inclusivity of the main cast, and the fact that they don’t holler and preach about the main female protagonist! She does a brilliant job as an officer, gender notwithstanding.
The closure one gets with every episode is heart warming. Also, the plot twist is largely unexpected and not cliched. It gets human and lived. They touch upon such relevant topics like racism, homophobia, postpartum depression, and more.
They don’t hesitate to show homicidal cases involving children very ethically and realistically, a move that other shows stay away from. This is where the “human” aspect comes in! It’s hard to watch a child’s lifeless body or hear the story, but it’s honest and raw.
Huge credit to the writers and actors!!! Do watch it if you like gripping investigative stories sans much personal drama!
