Brilliant movie and beautifully filmed. It’s definitely tragic and sometimes painful to watch, but Marilyn Monroe’s life certainly qualified for those descriptors.
The childhood scenes with her psychotic mother were hard to watch, as were the scenes of her abuse by just about every man she met, including JFK. And then there is the mysterious “Daddy” whom she is always seeking, and the child she never manages to have (or who is even taken away from her by abortion forced on her by people profiting from her career).
It was a wonderful and poetic (and occasionally nightmarish) image of a tragic life. Ana de Armas was great - in fact, all of the cast is excellent. Very highly recommended.
