As someone who has played all the dark picture games and has been a big fan for a while I can say I was definitely disappointed. Let’s start off with the good: great actors, beautiful scenery, and it was still fun to play. I think if I hadn’t played Until Dawn before this one, I maybe would have rated this game a little higher. To me, it feels like a completely rip off with no new elements. The enemy is still pretty similar with pretty parallel storylines. However, what makes this game worse in my opinion is the lack of character relationships. Since we don’t get a relationship tracker in this one, the reactions between the characters are really lack luster. I feel like the relationships they have are very surface level and never progress with the story. Jacob, Nate, and Emma feel almost completely irrelevant. Since they all are so disconnected it really makes the story feel bland. The other huge complaint I have is how buggy this game is. Whether that be small details like people glitching a few feet closer or the girls hair’s looking really blocky to actually running my gameplay and messing up my ending. I hope the developers will work to fix this issues in the coming weeks to make it a better playing experience. All in all, it was entertaining but was really not worth the money and hype. It feels a little like it was a rushed project and ultimately made it quite disappointing. I hope the next game they release is more enjoyable.
