Raul: A few days ago, you made the comment that "El DÃa de los Muertos" is the same as Halloween here in the U.S. That is not true. Actually, it is closer to Memorial Day here in the U.S.. It has nothing to do with Halloween at all! In Mexico, November 1st is to remember and honor babies and small children that have passed away before their time. November 2nd is to remember and honor all of our loved ones (relatives and friends) that have passed away. The sugar skulls and marigold flowers are believed to attract the souls of our departed loved ones. The ofrendas that we make are in honor of those that have passed on, and may consist of their pictures, a candle and some of their favorite things.
