What a disappointment, Thor really won me over after Ragnarok. Loved that film. This is the complete polar opposite and I even very nearly left the cinema half way though, for the first time in 25 years when I was watching Event Horizon!
It starts off rushed, a quick catch up of all the past things and puts Thor with GotG which has so much potential, however after 10 minutes they part and the Guardians team are replaced with Screaming Goats! Yes screaming goats, what the hell is that about, all through this film they randomly appear screaming and it’s like watching a film with screaming brats next to you in the cinema. At one point I thought I needed to leaving because they were just giving me a headache and added nothing to the film.
Thor was complete humiliated as a character, shocking jokes, at inappropriate times. Jokes about kids being abducted, through to jokes about Jane Fosters cancer and her dying from it. Several characters now seem to be gay, including the rock guy! Not that I have anything against that but it was like a tick box exercise.
Jane becoming Thor came out of nowhere and with minimal explanation. Said to say that I thought Natalie Portman’s acting was very poor, wouldn’t surprise me if it was her first film in years, no emotion or life in the character.
Zeus was terrible, sorry but what really was the point, I almost cheered when he was killed (supposedly) and why was there a dumpling god, seriously, why!!!
Thought the villain was ok, although not given enough story, also he was the god butcher, however you see minimal time him actually hunting gods.
All just a massive disappointment and after Dr Strange 2 also disappointing, I wonder if I need a break from Marvel. Nothing has been the same since Thanos and End Game which was Marvels pinnacle, in my opinion.
