Political kings, queens, bishops are eventually checked by pawns with high intellects and ethical principles, in a chess-like portrayal of world powers and manipulation of ideas and ideals in our networked world. The series uses interesting and explicit metaphors for minds delving deep into malware, spyware and realistic computation, while personal lives of the characters develop in ways which almost succeed in drawing in the audience to care deeply about the protagonists. Orwell would have enjoyed Soviet-like strategies incorporating dirty tricks now so prevalent in our political era so badly soiled by fake news advocates. A very enjoyable experience, if the adjective can be appropriate in our post-truth planet.
