Apparently I started watching this series a year ago and lost interest after 3 episodes. I recently started reading the books and am enjoying the books, as the writing is reminiscent of Tolkien. The books said there was a show on azon, so I went to check it out. I was surprised that I had already started it. I watched the first episode, amd almost couldn't finish it. The characters in the book are very well defined, and very likeable, even Moraine, who retained a little of the sparkle that she had when she was younger. However, the casting is so horrible, I just couldn't get through it. Especially the main 4 characters, who look like 30 year olds instead of 20 year olds. Instead of the youthful innocence of Merry and Pippin, or Sam on their first adventure, you have old, downtrodden depressing characters on screen. I have no doubt I will finish the books, and no doubt that I will not watch the show. Peter Jackson would have brought those characters to life. So disappointing.
