That single does not get released till two years later in 1965 in the film. Please do your research properly. And Motown isn't the only musical r&b-soul backdrop for the early sixties. I'm watching it now. The content does not seem to match the title of the movie. I can't help but think that had Mr. Spike Lee done this film that it would have reflected that deep research had been done. The film has a tone as if it had been done in the nineties with a moderate budget. If the subject of lynchings are at the heart of the song "Strange Fruit" it would seem that that would be a far greater concern and point of illustration throughout the film. The journey should also take us through the Governmental offices whom opposed this song. The genius of this movie should have been in the dialogue between and among those two factors. The movie seems to be taken from the stock piles and footages of an unprogressive mind. I'm not a professional critic. But I think I know what is good. Nothing personal.
