Without having read the book previously (as others here clearly have so they could fill in what was missing), I’d say the movie’s portrayal of the characters was somewhat flat / were not portrayed in such a way that drew you in to caring about them with any serious curiosity until cousin Rachel enters the story and only then because of the title of the movie. Pretty much a yawn-fest up to that point. I was easily distracted throughout the movie also. This is definitely not Wuthering Heights (film not book) level material.
