I first saw this movie back when it was first released and I was in love with the late great John Wayne, Richard Widmark and Laurence Harvey as Col Travis. I sat through what seemed to be a overwhelming but at times slow boat type of film until the film reached its climax in the arrival of General Santa Anna and his army, culminating in the final assault and the breach of the Alamo ramparts the fate of the Texans sealed. The soundtrack complimented the story.
