Elaine Errico

As Little Women is one of my all-time favorite books and movie, I was looking forward to seeing this since it was announced months ago. I have to admit, I was very disappointed. Two key actors were terribly miscast: Laura Dern (Marmee) and Florence Pugh (Amy). I was so distracted by their inaccurate and ineffective portrayals that I couldn't believe the movie was brought to full production with them in it. The scene with Amy in the schoolhouse is an embarrassment. Amy looks like she could be her schoolmates' mother. Marmee was just too lighthearted. She has no depth of emotion. Saorise Ronan and Meryl Streep were excellent! My advice, watch the 1994 version of Little Women and then re-rate this movie. I would be shocked if the ratings did not go down significantly.
