Don't listen to the negative critics. I'm too young to remember the original and this is Sly Stallone at his best. Yes it's dark, Yes it's brutal but the plot was obviously worth redoing the acting was top notch. And the directing was phenomenal. If you've never seen it ,the plot is just strong enough to overcome the fact that it's 20 years old at this point. Give it a shot.
