Series one set up a brilliant so called fight of dragons and we waited and waited and waited and ...never happened.
Series two starts with a simmer and we are kept kinda engaged waiting for the looming civil war and it just never really feels to get past the mid gears and into the highest level of speed. A stand out moment mid session involving a dragon fight and a totally no way moment but it doesn't deliver for me as a Series two should do . To many long drawn out talking sections and nowhere near the hights of GOT by any stretch. GOT had it's slow burn episode's but there was always something else burning away or another conflict simmering off . THOTD is just soooo long and drawn out, it becomes tedious 2 episode's from the end. Matt Smith certainly is the stand out actor and proves again and again he can hold a screen presence and hold it well . A versatile and talented actor and honestly is the lead character in a brilliantly imaginative world but ultimately a very very poorly paced show . Series three needs to amp up the conflict and seriously needs some wow moments, as it is I'm struggling to recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen GOT or read the books because honestly they'd probably be bored. I love GOT and even the ending, but this really does need some action....soon .
Brilliantly imaginative world, amazing art direction but very poorly paced and far too long winded and certainly could have some of the " character "A" stares into a vista contemplating what's next moments chopping out. It gets tedious and boring by episode 5 really does ! 3/5 for me
