I had high hopes for this book . Unfortunately, my expectations were crushed. I think the book needed to include more examples from neuroscience/psychology fields. Code was rife with unjustifiably large number of unfamiliar functions which made it very difficult to follow - to read a single line of code I had to open several .m files to begin to understand what the code is doing.

The book introduced many statistical methods that are important for neural data analysis. Personally, I found it very mathematical without demonstrating how such methods can be applied to neural data in practice. The lack of the use of actual neural data in the Matlab tutorials, in my opinion, made following the author very difficult.
