So, what is it that the critics don't like:
- Real stories about real people?
- The storyline or characters?
- Political correctness or narrative not aligned with current directives?
- Character diversity ratio out of range?
- Not the flavour of the month?
I am at a loss. Honestly.
Based on the number of stars viewers have given this film, I think it was loved by more than just me.
Whether you are a country bumpkin, an immigrant, from a disfunctional family, or just a general outsider, you will get this story.
Hell, I am all four, this is totally relatable!
A great biopic, it leaves you with the warm feeling and reminder that you can still achieve in this world, despite your upbringing or sphere of influence.
Glenn Close's performance was great as a tough love Gran, Amy Adams played a believable part as did Haley Bennet as the supportive sister.
Well done Ron, Gabriel, and the real life J.D for telling us his story.
As perhaps Mamaw would say, "The <insert expletive> critics ain't worth half a Vance!"
