Look, I get it. The base message of this story in it's most raw form is important. Minorities in the time the book took place had it hard, and it's good to point that out and reflect on it. And it could've been good, but me and 4 other people all agreed - It was written so poorly! When characters are speaking there are no speech marks, characters are shoved in the story like fleeting thoughts more then like actual people, it's like someone in 7th grade tried to meet the word quota on an essay.
