This film is truly timeless. It really has that old but classic movie feeling that I truly love! Although there were some things in this movie that weren’t in the book (Like the Wonka Wash scene, Geese laying golden chocolate eggs, the classic “Candy Man” scene, the Fizzy Lifting drink scene and many of the lines) but that didn’t bother me. There’s one character I love that was never in the book but made for the film, and that’s Mr. Turkentine, Charlie’s dumb teacher. “I’ve just decided to switch our Friday schedule to Monday which means that the test we take each Friday on what we learn during the week will now take place on Monday before we’ve learned it. But since it’s Tuesday, it doesn’t matter in the slightest,” said by Mr. Turkentine. He reminds me a lot of Monty Python. Now getting to Gene Wilder. MAN what an awesome portrayal of Willy Wonka! He’s so charming but yet so insane, and I love it. My favourite piece of dialogue from this film, “What was that we just went through?” “Hsaw Anknow.” “Is that Japanese?” “ No, that’s Wonka Wash spelled backwards!”

Honestly, I wish I could give 10 stars. This film is so well paced and acted. The story, the character, the anxiety you feel for the victim, the hatred for the villain, his motivation doesn’t justify his actions. He is just INSANE!! I love how Halle Berry’s character actually cared for the victim and formed some sort of bond with her because she probably knew that since she’s not with the victim and the victim has a prepaid phone, which takes longer to track, she would need to comfort her in some way. That’s what I liked about her character! And the things that Halle tells her to do is so smart, like telling her to take out the tail light so she can wave her arm around so that a person with a trackable phone can call 911, so that they know where the victim is. I was like, “wow!!” I literally had my eyes wide open at that point! Anyway, I highly recommend this movie to those who love a good thriller, or to anyone for that matter!! Watch it NOW!!
