This book can be a life changer. Through rigorous scientific research it documents first that Love is a primary driver of not only humans, but primates. It further documents that this love creates humanistic values in non human creatures. Specifically that's Bonobos, who are related to chimpanzees. But unlike chimpanzees, Bonobos are a matriarchal society. The net effect for me was validation that development of a moral code doesn't require nor belong solely to religion. It's embedded in all of us on a much deeper level.

Like a lot of rom coms it's characters are scripted as over the top and unrealistic. That's the rom com format. It keeps the story moving forward, funny, and engaging. Not meant to be realistic. Yet it deals effectively specific emotions that arise in all relationships that are real. And in the end, allows the viewers to root for a happy ending we actually want in our own lives. We got that! I love how they discovered love, allowed it to flourish, and never gave up on it. Even though it didn't fit any mold. Vicariously we can explore the world of possibility without having to be restricted by reality. Dreaming is a fantasy that contains nuggets of truth, but isn't true.
