Well its probably a 'Marmite' show, love or hate it, i like marmite and i loved this show.
A compelling story with twists and turns, it starts with a brutal violent scene involving a polar bear...and the story why? Unfolds later in the season, and asks you the viewer, the question would you do the same?
its completely captivating from the get go, also i love shows and films set in frozen wastelands etc, fargo, snowman to name a few. And i love sinister ,twisty thrillers.
The music is good, and scenery though bleak at times as its set in a frozen wasteland but at the same time it is beautiful.
The actors, all of them, put on stellar performances and theres some somevfantastic actors in the cast. Theres a great variety of characters, some funny, weird and some creepy, and some violent, most with an underlying secret/motive. Theres also a great sense of community as the bar is a hub for all of them to drink their troubles, away and have a good cathartic dance/mosh.
Some of the scenes are captivatingly horrific (ive heard some folk had to look away) i wont spoil them for anyone...they are pretty gross, but like a carcrash...you cant look away and you shouldnt. I watched the first time around but my girlfriend at the time talked through it.
So, im watching it for a second time back to back via NowTV with no ads, and it is amazing watching like this.
No interuptions so i can fully get immersed and concentrate. As im sure i missed a lot and i dont have to wait a week like i did when with my chatterbox of a girlfriend.
And it may be a few years old now, but it really hasnt dated at all, still looks fresh.
So i love it as among many of my friends did too, as i say its a marmite show, but i would say definitely give it a go, as you'll never know, and you really dont want to miss out on this gem of a show. One of the best Sky Atlantic has put out. Up there with season one of true detective for me. Youll either love it or or dislike it...so get this marmite down ya!🤣
