A perfect comedy. This one is not only a comedy that everyone should see once, it's a top movie must watch for everyone. One could argue that a movie this edgy in dealing with racism couldn't be made today. However, a movie with this much bite into society, probably couldn't have been made in 1974 either if it's production hadn't gone under Hollywood's radar. What's both great, but also sad in a way, is how well the jokes hold up...

Despite a strange premise, (seriously, water shortage? Oxygen and hydrogen? The most common elements?) Has an incredibly cheesy and fun pace and acting. Great cast for this sci fi comedy, with some really surprising people showing up. No, I'm not talking bruce valanch (or however you spell it) I'm talking Ron Perlman, Angelica Houston, and the guy who played Sloth from Goonies. A movie where you just turn off your brain and just enjoy it's dumb 🤪 swashbuckling antics.

This blandly filmed movie is surprisingly relevant farce for today's politics. Particularly, it seemingly unintentionally defends the upper class wasp society for being racist and antisemitic. Having read some Tom Wolfe reviews of the adaption of his works, evidently, that was the exact opposite of his intentions. Although I gave this such a low review, and if you can stomach the failed and insensitive social commentary as well as the horrible mis- casting, it is interesting to watch. In the same a person would watch the R. Kelly interview with gale king or the Amber Heard testimony 🤔

A technically fine and cleverly put together film. With well (albeit basic) put together song/dance routines. I fully understand why it does have a solid following of all ages. I'm not one of them. Mainly to one extremely glaring plot hole. Why would Dorothy leave Oz for the great depression and dust bowl ridden Kansas? Especially with only an annoyed aunt who might see her as a burden, an aloof uncle, and woman who wants to kill her only friend in the world? Not exactly great motivation for our heroine...
