I would be interested to read 'The Turn of the Screw' which is what this series is loosely based off of.. I LOVED The Haunting of Hill House and kind of expected it to be an almost replica 'follow up' copy. It's a different sort of thrill - chilling, lacking jump scares and relying on foreboding music to 'set the scene'.. Engaging nonetheless, but hard to beat The Haunting of Hill House. Many of the characters from the first series come back in this one though and there's an eerie quality to the episodes. If you've ever seen 'The Lodgers' you'll get a similar sense of authenticity in a 'haunted abandoned' house... more 'The Woman in Black' and less 'The Conjuring'. Still a good watch!
