Not your traditional horror movie as there’s no jump scares or sadistic killers (as everyone on Google reviews seems think this is a prerequisite to establish a horror) but this very original concept had me at points feeling uneasy. The characters did feel a bit disconnected to the situation that was unraveling around which unfortunately took me out the movie somewhat although all n all convincing performance all round from the cast. The plot itself was mediocre but definitely not bad. I was engaged throughout most of the film and there were a few moments where I was near the edge of my seat. The mystery aspect of it is what drew me in the most, I love a story which pulls you in giving you just enough info to speculate without being too obvious. I have a feeling this movie will be like “marmite”, some will hate this film and some will really like it. I’ve watched more movies than I can even count alongside my dad who didn’t really like it gave it a 1.5/2 out of 5 though he said he could recognise the appeal for it. Usually we come to the same agreement about films. Ultimately whether you’re going to like this film is going to be very “taste oriented” (marmite). The writing felt a bit choppy at points which is a let down and some plot points seemed to be almost entirely unrelated, a couple touch ups here and there and this movie could of really been the real deal. To conclude when reading reviews whether it’s ravings or harsh criticism take it with a pinch of salt, they’re all subjective and very opinionated. The only reviews I’d take seriously is professional reviewers and even then this type of horror due to its style is very very taste oriented so it’s a mixed bag.
Oh forgot to say the end was another reason why I couldn’t give this a 4, just didn’t really make too much sense.
