I like Woody Allen movies in general for the provocative and deep insight. It touches the strings of human nature with questions and portray the characters that we relate to ourselves. In Vicky Christina Barcelona, I find it very interesting how Vicky was tempted through the movie and how her basic principles and morals were shaken. With the same interest I was watching how Cristina was evolving from an adventurous pleasure liker to a thoughtful young lady with a very strong ground and with an ability to sort things out and step out if needed. I admired it actually when she decided to leave the odd formation her lover created with her and his ex-girlfriend. That formation developed Christina's skills as a photographer though, and she enjoyed it to some point. No black and no white? As to the Spanish Casanova, he left me with questions what all three remarkable ladies found so attractive in quite ordinary man. He was portrayed as a person with very little artistic skills mostly adopted from his previous girlfriend, with little to no care of moral aspect of his actions, with his kindness that can kill and put in danger those who got involved. A real life puzzles, indeed! Also, I would like to mention American and European (Spanish) cultures clash. What was missing Vicky with her loving and reliable American husband to drag herself into the emotional collapse? So, two young ladies were leaving Barcelona with not quite the same state of mind and soul. I want to watch it again.
